Unimus Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences Held a Series of Oath Ceremonies of Medical Professions

Laporan ketua panitiaSemarang │May 24, 2017), Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences (Fikkes) Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) held a series of professional oath ceremonies for the graduates of the Professional Nursing, Midwifery, and Medical Laboratory Technology programs, taking place in the Grasia Hotel Semarang. Ns. Heryanto Adi Nugroho., M.Kep., Sp.Kom., chairperson of the committee, stated during his verbal report the entire series of oath ceremonies was attended by 195 graduates, consisting of 65 graduates from the Professional Nursing program, 90 graduates from the Medical Laboratory Technology program (Diploma III), 4 graduates from the Medical Laboratory program and the rest from Midwifery program (Diploma III). The event was also attended by the chairperson of the Indonesian Association of Medical Laboratory Professionals’ Regional Executive Board of Central Java (DPW PATELKI Jawa Tengah), Secretary of the Indonesian National Nurses Association’ Regional Executive Board of Central Java (DPW PPNI Jawa Tengah), Chairperson of the Indonesian Midwives Association’s Regional Executive Board of Central Java (DPW IBI Jawa Tengah) as well as representatives of hospitals in Semarang City and of student organizations at Unimus.

The event was held in three sessions of ceremonies. The first session was the oath ceremony for the Professional Nursing program graduates led by Dr. Untung Sujianto, M.Kes (Secretary of the Indonesian National Nurses Association’ Regional Executive Board of Central Java). The following session was the oath ceremony for the Medical Laboratory Technology program graduates led by Dr. Budi Santosa., M.Si.Med. (Chairperson of the Indonesian Association of Medical Laboratory Professionals’ Regional Executive Board of Central Java). And, the last session was the oath ceremony for the Midwifery program graduates led by Endang Suwartiningsih, A.Md.Keb. (Chairperson of the Indonesian Midwives Association’s Regional Executive Board of Central Java). The entire event was closed with the signing ceremony of the oath texts by the representative of each program. It was done right in front of the professional organizations’ leaders and witnessed by religious leaders.

Kegiatan angkat sumpah didampingi rohaniawanDr. Ali Rosidi, M.Si. (Vice Dean II of Fikkes) representing the university gave advice to the graduates about the importance of being honest as well as being grateful wherever they would work. Meanwhile, Dr. Budi Santosa., M.Si.Med., who is also the Dean of Fikkes at Unimus, explained that the oath was just the beginning of their devotion toward the nation. Dr. Untung Sujianto, M.Kes., the Secretary of the Indonesian National Nurses Association’ Regional Executive Board of Central Java, added that paramedics, including nurses, weren’t allowed to discriminate patients. He said that they had to be innovative, creative, able to read opportunities nicely and to always maintain the values of the profession. “Junior nurses are expected to be able to develop science by studying overseas and again develop it after returning to Indonesia” Dr. Untung revealed. All of the organizations’ leaders attending the even in their greeting emphasized the importance of having a Registration Letter (Surat Tanda Registasi-STR) for nurses, midwives and medical laboratory professionals at work.
