Head of People Welfare Bureau, the Regional Secretariat of Central Java Province banged the gong to open the event, accompanied by the Chairman of Muhammadiyah’s Provincial Executive Board of Central Java and the Rector of Unimus.

Semarang │(August, 25, 2017) The Central Java Provincial Level of the Ahmad Dahlan Olympics and Culture and Sports Performances (Olympicad & Pentasbora) 2017 was officially opened this morning in the rectorate front yard of Universitas Muhammadiyah (Unimus), Semarang. The event was opened by Mr. Drs. Supriyono, M.M., the Head of People Welfare Bureau, the Regional Secretariat of Central Java Province, who came to represent the Governor of Central Java Province. It was opened by gong banging. On the occasion, Mr. Supriyono read a letter from the Governor, who appreciated the committee for holding the event. He hoped that through the event, promising potentials either in arts or sports could be found.

Attending the event were the Head of the Education Office of Central Java Province represented by the Section Head of Senior High School, Chairman of Muhammadiyah’s Provincial Executive Board of Central Java (Drs. Muhammad Tafsir, M.Ag.), Rector of Unimus (Prof. Dr. Masrukhi., M.Pd.), senior leaders at Unimus, juries, and representatives of the Primary & Secondary Education Council as well as of the participants. Dr. Iwan Junaidi as the Chairman of the Primary & Secondary Education Council stated that there are as many as 1554 people who participate the event. They come from 35 regencies and cities in Central Java province. Olympicad & Pentasbora this year is held by the Primary & Secondary Education Council of Muhammadiyah’s Provincial Executive Board of Central Java in collaboration with Muhammadiyah Students Association (IPM)’ Provincial Executive Board of Central Java. “This Olympicad and Pentasbora aims at promoting Islam through arts and sports and is projected to give significant contributions towards Education and Culture in Muhammadiyah” Dr. Iwan Junaidi explained.

Rector of Unimus in his welcome speech stated his gratitude for having an opportunity from Muhammadiyah’s Provincial Executive Board of Central Java to host the event. Prof. Masrukhi also share some information about that development that has been achieved by Unimus in terms of facilities and infrastructure as well as the accreditation status. “Unimus today inshaAllah has been trusted by the society. We want not only to become excellent in sciences, technology and internationalization, but also in teaching Islamic and Muhammadiyah values to the students” Prof. Masrukhi revealed.
