Alumni of Diploma III in Midwifery during the Professional Oath-taking

Semarang│(October 25, 2017), Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences (Fikkes) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) held an oath-taking ceremony for nurses, midwives, nutritionists, and medical laboratory staff. The event took place in Pancawati Ballrom at Patrajasa Hotel, Semarang. Ns. Chanif, MNS, the committe chairman (head of Diploma III in Nursing), reported that the ceremony was attended by 659 graduates, consisting of 217 graduates from Profession Program in Nursing, 29 graduates from Diploma 3 in Nursing, 28 graduates from Diploma III in Midwifery, 18 graduates from Diploma III in Nutrition, 78 graduates from Diploma III in Medical Laboratory Technology, and 289 graduates from Diploma IV in Medical Laboratory Technology.

Chairman of the Regional Executive Board of the Indonesian Assocation of Medical Laboratory Technologist (PATELKI) for Central Java Province, the Secretary of the Regional Executive Board of the Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI) for Central Java Province, the Chairman of the Indonesian Midwives Association (IBI) for Central Java Province, and the Chairman of the Regional Executive Board of the Indonesian Nutrition Association for Central Java Province came to the event in accordance with their authorities to induct the graduates. The event was closed with signing the pledge of oath by the representative of each profession, witnessed by some religious leader. After the oath taking all participants attended a general lecture on challenges and opportunities to work overseas, delivered by drg. Elia Rosalina Sunityo, MARS, MS, the Deputy of the National Agency for the Protection and Placement of International Migrant Workers (BNP2TKI).

Prof. Dr. Masrukhi, M.Pd., the rector of Unimus in the welcome speech, stated that the compencies of Unimus’ graduates had been recognized in either national or international area; they had worked in 19 different countries. “On one side, with the increasing domestic and foreign workforce needs, Unimus is also going to open several health study programs. They are Profession Program in Midwivery, Postgraduate Program in Nursing, and Postgraduate Program in Medical Laboratory Technology,” the Rector explained. “The alumni have been equipped [not only] with knowledge related to their study programs, [but] also knowledge on entrepreneurship. They’re not only able to be labors but also create jobs. Many of the alumni have established Klinik Pratama (Health Clinics) or other businesses. Therefor, it is really good,” he concluded.
