372 students participating the Student Community Service 2018 have been ready to  join the community

Semarang | Unimus (January 29, 2018) 372 students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) attended a departure ceremony of Student Community Service in the front yard of Unimus’ rectorate building on Monday, January 29, 2018. The ceremony was led by Drs. Samsudi Raharjo, M.T. (Vice Rector for Student Affairs), accompanied by the Vice Rector for Financial Affairs, Dr. Dini Cahyandari, M.T. (head of the Institute of Research and Community Service), the Field Supervisors, and study program heads. The program will be held in Semarang Regency, spread in 13 villages in Sumowonosub-district and 10 villages in Jambu sub-district. Meanwhile, the students come from 12 study programs (Undergraduate Program in Statistics, Undergraduate Program in Chemical Education, Undergraduate Program in Mechanical Engineering, Undergraduate Program in Electrical Engineering, Undergraduate Program in English Literature, Undergraduate Program in English Education, Undergraduate Program in Mathematics Education, Undergraduate Program in Management, Undergraduate Program in Accounting, Undergraduate Program in Nutrition Science, Undergraduate Program in Food Technology, and Diploma 4 Program in Health Analyst).

Vice Rector III of Unimus advised the students

Dr. Dini Cahyandari, M.T., in her speech, stated that Unimus’ Student Community Service in 2018 will be held between January 29 and February 27, 2018, the the theme “Optimazation of Community and Natural Resources Empowerment for Properity and Automomy”. “Prior to the implementation of the community service, several activities have been done, including debriefings from late December until January, field survey in January, and program presentation in Sumowono Sub-district office and Jambu Sub-district office on January 17, 2018,” she added. Those activities were conducted in order to equip the students with knowledge and experiences in the Student Community Service locations.

Several field supervisors and study programs attended the departure ceremony of Student Community Service of Community Empowerment 2018.

Meanwhile, Drs. Samsudi Raharjo, M.T., stated that the Student Community Service would be Student Community Service of Community Empowerment (KKN PPM). “KKN PPM that will be organized by Unimus’ students is to change the paradigm of physical building to natural resource-based community empowerment,” he explained. “By running the community service, I hope that Unimus’ students will have better awareness on problems in the society and be able to contribute to solve them,” he added. He also advised the students to get the message after finishing the service and make the people get a good impression from their performances, especially dealing with the good name of the university.
