Semarang | Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) is committed to extent its network in educational sphere. One of the attempts is by establishing cooperation both with domestic and overseas institutions. It is of course to improve its quality as a higher education institution, especially dealing with the future prospect of education. Partnerships with institutions from various countries have become a way to know and learn systems and methods used in such countries.

On Friday, July 6, 2018 taking place in the Nursing Research Center building, Muhammadiyah Language Center of Unimus collaborate with EQWIP HUBs, a Non Government Organization (NGO) operating in sectors of education and human resource quality improvement to hold a Workshop on Public Speaking entitled “English for Active Communication”. EQWIP HUBS itself is an NGO from Canada that has been cooperating with Unimus in the areas of education and youth empowerment. As a consultant from EQWIP HUBs, Oke Trianto stated that contribution EQWIP HUBS has given is training. “We come here to share materials on training, ready-for-work training, and ready-for-business training,” he explained.

Through this cooperation, Unimus has an opportunity to get empowerment programs form lecturers, students, and alumni. EQWIP HUBs offers programs that prepare to face the workplace and also entrepreneurship. The public speaking workshop is also attended by six volunteers from Canada. Those volunteers were invited to help the participants to hone the skill of Public Speaking for in their oppinion, with good public speaking skill, one could have some added value in the world of work as well as to start a business.

Oke Trianto added that in the near future, Unimus (students or lecturers) could submit entrepreneurial proposals which would be reviewed. The funds would be between 5 and 20 million rupiahs. The plan is Muhammadiyah Language Center of Unimus will hold similar events once in every 3 to 6 months in order to accelerate the human resource empowerment at Unimus as well as a form of community service.
