Semarang | Health is a kind of investment that supports economic development. Health development must be seen as an investment to improve the quality of human resources. Health development is basically an attempt done by all components of the nation to increase awareness, will, and ability to live healthily of everyone in order to increase the degree of the public’s health. Success in health development is really determined by combination of efforts, programs, and sectors, and attempts that have been done in the previous periods. “Program of Healthy Indonesia is implemented to increase the degree of public health through empowering 3 major pillars. They are: 1) to embody the paradigm of health; 2) to empower health services; 3) to provide the National Health Insurance.

One of the attempts to integrate the 3 pillars by implementing family approach and Health Living Community Movement (Gerakan Masyarakat Hidup Sehat/Germas) to create healthy families. Meanwhile, to achieve the priority of health development in the period of 2015-2019, in the Healthy Indonesia program, all potentials are optimized, including health development, starting from the smallest unit of society, which is family,” dr. Joko Mardijanto, M.Kes, the Division Head of Health Services at the Health Office of Central Java Province, in a nursing national seminar held by the Professional Program in Nursing, Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences at Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Quest Hotel Semarang.

“Nowadays, community nursing has become a trend, to encourage healthy live behavior. It is because no matter how much money the government provides, including the Mandatory Health Insurance Scheme (JKN) and BPJS Health, won’t be enough if not if people’s behaviors and lifestyles cannot be amended.” he stated. Joko asserted that “…to achieve it, awareness on healthy lifestyle needed to be built, from the base point, the family.

Community Health Center (Puskesmas) itself is a health service provider with a mission to become the leading health service development center, which provide comprehensive and integrated health trainings and health services for the public in a particular work area. Thus, family approach is one of the ways taken by a Community Health Center to increase the target range and juxtapose or improve access to health services. It is done by visiting families in the working area.” It was explained also that the Healthy Indonesia program with family approach had worked very well in terms of improving the health access, especially for people living in areas far from health facilities. “Puskesmas doesn’t only hold health services on location but also outside it by visiting each family,” Joko added.

There were totally three speakers in the seminar entitled “Healthy Indonesia Program with Family Approach from the Perspective of Community Nurses,” beside Mr. Joko Mardijanto, M.Kes. They were Dra. Junaiti Sahar, S.Kp., M.App., Ph.D. (chairman of board of experts of Indonesian Community Health Nurses Association) and Ns. Siti Syamsiah, S.Kep., M. Kes.
