Semarang, UNIMUS (September 11, 2017) Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) held the final session of English training for Educational Staff of Unimus. Held on August 14-31, 2017, it has been attended by 25 participants, consisting of administrative heads and staff members in units and faculties at Unimus, with the tutors from Muhammadiyah Language Center (MLC) Unimus. In line with the tag line “A University for the Excellent”, Unimus always attempts to improve the quality of the human resources, including the educational resources, through enhancing their English skills.

Munadhirin, S.Pd., M.Si. he head of the Bureau of General Administration and Finance of Unimus, was giving a closing speech.

The training was held in order to make the participants aware of the need of English dealing with the excellent services to either domestic or foreign guests and students. Munadhirin, S.Pd., M.Si., the head of the Bureau of General Administration and Finance of Unimus, in the closing ceremony expressed his appreciation to the participants that have participated seriously, hoping that they at least would be able to provide excellent services. “Ability to communicate in English is one of skills that one should master in this global era, which for sure needs facilities as well as preparations,” he stated. He also thanks the personnel department of Unimus for having shown the spirit in planning and conducting the event.

In the closing event, several awards were given, such as the Most Active Participant (awarded to Lisma Madya Yanti, an educational staff member in the Faculty of Engineering) and the Best Participant (Awarded to Putir Prakasita Bawono, an librarian).

The event was aimed at improving the educational staff competencies especially the English skills as well as enhancing the quality of services that they can provide and of communicating in foreign languages either orally or verbally. Finally, it is expected from the participants that they will get familiar with and have the courage of speaking English, as a part of their international insights.
