Semarang | Unimus (February 14, 2018) Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) is committed to support the lecturers to propose grants for researches as well as community services. “In 2018, the achievements dealing with those grants of Unimus’ lecturers have been pleasing. Unimus is in the top 4 among private higher education institutions in Central Java Province and top 5 among all Muhammadiyah Higher Education Institutions (177 institutions) in Indonesia,” stated Prof. Dr. Masrukhi, M.Pd., the Rector of Unimus in a press conference on Wednesday, February 14, 2018.

Dr. Dini Cahyandari, M.T., the Head of Unimus Institute of Research and Community Service said that Unimus totally received research grants as much as 4.21 Billion Rupiahs for 47 research proposals and 675 million Rupiahs for 11 community service proposals. “The amount of grants for researches and community services in 2018 increase up to 19.57% from that in 2017. It doesn’t even include research and community service grants from local governments, non-government organizations (NGOs), and other sources,” she explained. As one of universities set in Middle Cluster (Klaster Madya) in connection with the amount of grants received from the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, Unimus keeps focusing on improving the acquisition of grants from the Ministry through various ways, such as organizing some workshop on preparing proposals of researches and community services and inviting national-level reviewers as the facilitors. In terms of community services, Unimus also has made some attempts for quality improvement, such as by getting partner villages and cooperating with small and medium enterprises,” she added.

What is more delightful at Unimus is that the lecturers’ passions to compete to get research grants and conduct researches and community services keep increasing. The improvement will of course give contribution towards the creations of a lot of internationally-published scientific works and also empirical-based teaching materials,” explained the Rector. The Pattern of Unimus deals with health sector. Thus, there are so many researches and community services by Unimus’ lecturers with topics related to health, in spite of not forgetting the fact that other fields are also developed. Unimus is and will always be supportive towards those conducting researches with products that can be utilized by the public and patented,” Prof. Masrukhi, M.Pd. concluded.
