Semarang, February 21st, 2017 In accordance with Tanwir 2017 that will be held soon in Ambon, University of Muhammadiyah Semarang held a Pre-Tanwir National Seminar entitled “Empowering the Ideology of Pancasila for Advanced Indonesia” with Drs. H. Tafsir , M.Ag. (Chairman of Muhammadiyah Provincial Executive Board of Central Java), Dr. H. M. Busyro Muqoddas, M.Hum. (Muhammadiyah’s Law and Human Rights Council), Drs. H. A. Dahlan Rais, M.Hum. (Muhammadiyah’s Consolidation and Regeneration Council) and Prof. Dr. Masrukhi, M.Pd. (Rector of the University of Muhammadiyah Semarang) as the speakers. The event was attended also by the Headmasters of Senior/Vocational High Schools in Semarang City as well as Muhammadiyah High/Vocational High Schools throughout Central Java Province and Unimus’ academicians.
The head of Muhammadiyah’s Law and Human Rights Council in his speech reminded the audience that “…some public policies are still far the spirit of Pancasila. For instances, one concerning oil and gas explorations, water resources, and even our political system.”
On the other side, Prof. Dr. Masrukhi, M.Pd. admitted that Pancasila was still the relevance reference dealing with problems related to norms and ethics. “Indonesian people don’t need to worried for the ideology will never be outdated.” Meanwhile, Drs. H. Tafsir , M.Ag. added that the position of Muhammadiyah is clear. It uses Pancasila as the guidance of life as a nation. The moderate Islamic oganization chooses being in a nation with Islamic people, not an Islamic nation. Lastly, Drs. H. A. Dahlan Rais, M.Hum. also added that Pancasila is the pillar of the nation, used to take into reality a civil society within Indonesia.
For the record, the following event, Tanwir of Muhammadiyah will be held on February 24-26, 2017 in Ambon. And, the results of the discussion in the pre-tanwir seminar will be used as recommendations in the Tanwir meeting. The will be used the foothold to make decisions in next meetings. Unimus was appointed as the host of Pre-Tanwir Seminar for it was considered as one of those having great potentials to develop as well as could give massive contributions to Persyarikatan Muhammadiyah.
