1.	Peserta pelatihan Preceptorship serius mendengarkan pemberian materiSemarang │ May 6, 2017 Study Program of Nursing and Professional Program in Nursing, Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences (FIKKES), the University of Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) held a training on Preceptorship on Thursday-Friday (May 5-6, 2017), taking place in the hall of NRC building, the Intergrated Campus of Unimus. In the event that was opened by the Vice Dean II of FIKKES Unimus, Dr. Ali Rosidi., M.Si. Chairperson of the Committee (Dr Ns. Vivi Yosafianti Pohan., M.Kep.) stated that the training (guidance in the clinic) aimed at enhancing the quality of preceptors that would give impact on the improvement of knowledge, skill and attitude of the guided students during practices in hospitals. “Clinical science’s always developing so that preceptors, who are also hospital employees, need yang always update their knowledge in order to guide the students ahead of becoming professional nurses” Dr. Vivi expressed.

Meanwhile, head of Professional Program in Nursing, Ns. Heryanto Adi Nugroho., Sp.Kom. stated that the training for Central Java hospital preceptors need to be held frequently. “Routine duties at the hospital often make them forget that their knowledge should be upgraded. Proper clinical learning for the students of the Professional Program in Nursing influences significantly the quality of the graduates. Through correct learning, competency for nurses match with the required standard. In addition, expertise in preceptorship and mentorship is also one of the requirements asked by an educational hospital as well as for preparing an accreditation.” stated head of the study.

2.	Kegiatan simulasi preceptorship dan mentorshipThere were 78 participants consisting of lecturers in Nursing Program at Unimus and clinical preceptors from various educational and satellite hospitals, such as RSUP Dr. Kariadi, RSUD Tugurejo, RS Roemani, RS Permata Medika, RSUD Kota Semarang, RSI Weleri, RSUD Soewondo Kendal, RSUD Soesilo Slawi, RSUD Kraton Pekalongan, RSUD Ungaran, RSUD Ambarawa, RSUD Sunan Kalijaga and RS Mitra Siaga Tegal. Speakers in the event were experts in nursing education and clinical preceptorship, such as Edy Wuryanto, M.Kep. (Unimus lecturer) Ns. Tri Nurhidayati., M.Med.Ed. (Unimus lecturer) and Ns. Fatikhu Yatuni (UNDIP lecturer). The training was filled with lectures and simulation practices. Details of the activities are as follows: Quality improvement of cooperation between educational and service institutions, clinical learning methods of Preceptorship and Mentorship, assessment for learning and a host of coaching clinics on competency assessment methods as well as simulation practices on preceptorship and clinical assessment.

Edy Wuryanto., M.Kep., also the National Nurses Association chairperson for Central Java, during the training stated that, “Clinical education is the core of nursing education so that quality of nurses really depends the competence of the preceptor, dealing with the duty to guide the students of Nursing program. A preceptor’s duty is very complex and in a short them should be able to solve a lot of problems. Cases most preceptors really face are, for example, the existence of a very complex and changeable disease, also the use of sophisticated medical tools with new technologies, very busy clinical circumstances so that requiring special learning strategies to apply. And, such a training will be able to improve the preceptors’ competence” stated he.

Finishing all training agenda, they are expected to be more ready and professional in guiding students in clinical practices at the hospital in the future. It is expected that hospitals where the participants are working can be more supported to create reliable certified preceptors who are able to educated students of professional program in nursing, to become quality nurses. It is hoped also that with the improvement of their knowledge and skills in managing and designing clinical education and the use of proper assessment methods to improve the quality of services at medical clinics, student nurses and patients as the customers can be satisfied.
