PUBLISHING RESULTS OF RESEARCHES AND COMMUNITY SERVICES ARE OBLIGATORY FOR LECTURERS

Opening Speech by the Vice Rector I

Semarang │(February 25th, 2017) Institute of Research and Community Service (LPPM) of Unimus held a national seminar entitled “Implementation of Researches and Community Services for Autonomous and Advanced Society”. “There are 160 participants from 38 institutions (educational and non-educational institutions in 8 provinces in Indonesia.” stated Chairman of the Committee (Ns. Yuni Armiyati, Sp.KMB.). The event was officially opened by the Vice Rector I (Dr. Sri Darmawati, M.Si.) accompanied by the Head of LPPM (Dr. Dini Cahyandari, M.T.). The Vice Rector I stated that “this routine seminar facilitates the fulfillment of the Three Obligations in the fields of research and community service. Lecturers are expected to publish the results of their researches and community services, which will contribute toward the science so that they can bring prosperity for the the society.

Attending the event was the Director of Research and Community Service of the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Prof. Dr. Ocky Karnaradjasa, M.Sc.), moderated directly by the Vice Rector I of Unimus. In line with the theme, he emphasized the significance of lecturers’ role as the conductors of the national competence.

“Among all 12 decisive pillars of the national competence, the fifth pillar is higher education and training that lecturers can give their significant roles in it. Indonesia’ rank of competence is 37th in 2015, and 41st in 2016. We hope that from totally 213,920 lecturers in Indonesia from 3,246 institutions, there will be quality and Scopus-indexed publications of researches and community services, which will boost the rank in years to come.

Following the national seminar was the presentation of research and community service results, divided into two groups, i.e. oral presentation and presentations. Specifically for Unimus’ lecturers, the moment was also used for research and community service monitoring and evaluation (monev) funded by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education.
