Semarang | UNIMUS (June 8, 2018) Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang held iftar and celebration of Nuzulul Quran on Friday, June 8, 2018 with lecture from Dr. Rozihan, S.H., M.Ag., the Vice Chairman of Muhammadiyah Provincial Executive Board of Central Java. The event was held in Unimus’ beautiful park, while the celebration of Nuzulul Quran was held at Attaqwa Mosque in the area of Unimus campus. Rector and Vice Rectors of Unimus, head and members of Unimus Daily Advisory Board, as well as deans, study program heads and the rest of academicians at Unimus attended the event. It was also attended by 8 medical students from Cyberjaya University College of Medical Science in Malaysia who was running their student exchange program at Unimus.

Rohmat Suprapto, S.Ag., M.Si., the Chairman of the Institute of Islamic and Muhammadiyah Studies, stated that the event was a part of serial events during Ramadhan in 1439 Hijriyya. It is held as an attempt to make Ramadhan merry as well as share knowledge on Islam. Meanwhile, the Rector of Unimus in his speech stated that the moment was also a manifestation of gratitude for all success that Unimus has gained such as in the accreditation of the Faculty of Dentistry that has got B. The event was also used by AKP Supardi, the Vice Chief of Sectoral Police of Tembalang to give some advices about the public security and orderliness.

The following activity in the Nuzulul Quran celebration was reward handover for the most active staff in every event related to Al-Islam and Muhammadiyah, such as Thursday Morning recitation, Dhuhur and Ashar prayer in congregation and Lail Prayer. For that, the prize was awarded to Munadlirin, S.Pd., M.Si. (Head of General Administration and Finance Board) and Trixie Salawati, S.Sos, M.Kes. (lecturer at Faculty of Public Health). “The reward given by the Institute of Islamic and Muhammadiyah Studies is to stimulate all of the Unimus family to be more active in worshipping. It is to motivate for the highest reward is given by Allah SWT,” chairman of Unimus Institure of Islamic and Muhammadiyah Studies stated. The event was closed with taking magrib prayer in congregation, iftar, tarawih prayer in congregation, religious teaching in accordance with Nuzulul Qur’an.

In the lecture, the Vice Chairman of Muhammadiyah Provincial Executive Board of Central Java stated that Moslems were suggested to give alms whenever they celebrated some holy day for it would purify the soul, without expecting reward. He also told that in Surah Al Baqarah verse 185 it was said that “the Qur’ân was sent down as a Guidance (a means of reaching Allah, Hidayet) to men and clear proofs of the Guidance and the Discernment (Criterion between right and wrong) by Huda (Allah)”, Dr. H. Rozihan, S.H., M.Ag.”
