
Bergas, January 13th, 2017 Dean of the Faculty of Public Health (FKM) of Unimus a Student Withdrawal Ceremony following the completion of the Field Learning Practice (PBL) today. Attended by Bergas sub-district secretary representing the sub-district head as well as urban village and village heads in the sub-district of Bergas, the event was also used to disseminate the results of the PBL. For the record, the PBL had been held in 3 (three) villages, such as Karangjati Urban Village, Gebungan Village, and Wringin Putih Village.
As many as 123 students of the FKM have accomplished the PBL, which was held between December 19th, 2016 and January 13th, 2017. Prior to this ceremony, exactly a daybefore, the students had conducted a community service in form of free-of-charge medical check-ups in those three villages, including blood glucose, uric acid, cholesterol and some other tests.
Dean of the FKM stated that PBL will equip students some know-how to do other activities in the future as well as to take the plunge into community. And, during its execution, it had ran well, without any major obstacles. Technically, this program began with identifying health problems that had been occurring in the community. The, it was followed by clarifying the problems. The next step was to discuss the findings in village meetings in purpose of determining what programs that needed to be conducted. For sure, the programs would focus on health aspects related to the community.
Besides, the Field Learning Practice is basically routine activity conducted by the students of the Faculty of Public Health. It is an obligatory learning process that has to be dealt with by the students of 7th and 8th semester, which was aimed at initiating cooperation between Unimus and the community within which the program is conducted. Especially in the sub-district of Bergas, it is hoped that this program can be sustainable so that the impacts can be felt by the society.
On the other hand, Bergas sub-district head, represented by the secretary, expressed his gratitude for the program, hoping that the cooperation in the field of health between his party and Unimus can be sustained, for the it can become a foundation of other activities or programs. It is also hoped that the same program can be conducted in other villages in the sub-district of Bergas.
