
Semarang | (May 15, 2018), Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences (Fikkes) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) held a professional oath-taking ceremony of Nursing, Midwifery, Nutrition, and Medical Laboratory Technology programs in the hall of Unimus Nursing Research Center building, Semarang. Andri Sukeksi, SKM, M.Kes, the committee chairperson, reported that the ceremony was attended by 103 candidates of health workers from the Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences at Unimus, consisting of 41 graduates of Nursing Program, 1 graduates of Diploma III program in Nursing, 4 graduates of Diploma III in Medical Laboratory Technology, and 57 graduates of Diploma IV in Medical Laboratory technology.
In charge with the inauguration were Eko Joko Purwadyo, SKM, a member of adminisrators of Indonesia Association of Medical Technologists for Central Java area, and Ns. Supriyadi, S.Kep., a member of administrators of Indonesian National Nurses Association for Central Java Area. The event was closed with the signing ceremony of the oath document by the representative of each profession, in front of some religious leaders. Also attending the event were the Divisio Head of Employment from Central Java Province’s Health Office, administrators of Indonesian National Nurses Association for Semarang City, vice rectors of Unimus, Dr. Budi Santosa, M.Si.Med. (Dean of Fikkes), and heads of study programs in Fikkes.

Taufikurrahman, SKM, M.Kes., representing the Health Office, stated that an oath was easy to take but difficult to implement. Every health worker had to behave in accordance with the profession. Thus, he/she needed to be competent, integrated, and having a good attitude. “An oath is taken in the name of God, not only said but also contemplated and manifested maximally. Good communication with patients should be built. Knowledge should be continually developed through study, seminar, training, and scientific discussions. Collaborations should be developed and good care of the peers, public, and network should also be maintained,” Taufik asserted.

Menawhile, Dr. Sri Darmawati, M.Si. (Vice Rector 1 of Unimus), in her greeting stated that the competencies of Unimus’ graduated had been acknowledged by either national or international public. They had been spread in various countries all around the world. “Every need health worker has to think logically and systematically as taught during the study. It needs to be implemented in reality. Islamic values need to be implemented at work.” Dr. Sri Rejeki, M.Kep, Sp. Mat. (Vice Rector 2 of Unimus) added that to the oath would be implemented soon in the profession they had prefer. She stated that the taken oath would also give a strong motivation, primarily to make the graduates practice their knowledge sincerely. As a result, excellent services in health sector could be given to the society wherever they would be. “So far, graduates of the Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences at Unimus have demonstrated their competencies in each profession they have. Our hope after this oath-taking ceremony is that they will be able to serve the public professionally,” she closed.
