A drama performance entitled “Trapezium Love” a la English Education students (Undergraduate Degree in English Education (S1 Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris) of the University of Muhammadiyah Semarang last night (December 21st, 2016) held a great event in form of a drama performance entitled the “Trapezium Love”. The event was held in the Rectorate hall, the university’s integrated campus at Kedungmundu Raya Street No. 12, Semarang.
Contemporary-styled, the performance was nicely designed with the combinations of traditional and modern touches. It successfully amazed the audience. The performance told about young-adult popular stories, such as love, adolescent upheavals, school, family, and the elements of the local tradition, e.g. traditional clothing “kebaya” and popular names such as Wiro, Gatotkaca, Rama, Shinta and Kunti.
Around a hundred of people watching were made roaring with laughter in several parts of the performance as the actors could performed very well.
The English-speaking performance was a part of the English Education study program’s annual agenda. It was the practical implementation of Drama course, taught in the fifth semester. For the record, it was played also as the post-term test of the course, in addition to providing entertainment to either the university’ academicians or the public in general. Can’t wait to see next year’s drama performance. (HDS)
