Semarang | Oktober 7, 2016 International Relation Office ( IRO ) in collaboration with the Faculty of Economics of the University of Muhammadiyah Semarang (UNIMUS), Chevening Scholarship, and the British Embassy held a socialization on invitation and strategies for studying a master’s degree in England. The event was attended by Vice Rector III (Drs. Samsudi Rahardjo, M.M. , M.T.), Director of IRO (M. Yusuf, S.STPi., M.Si., Ph.D.), Dean of Faculty of Economics (Dr. Hardiwinoto, M.Si) and the academicians and students of Unimus.

Moderated by Dr. Djoko Setyo Hartono, S.E., M.M., S.H., M.Kn., the representatives of the Scholarships and the British Embassy in Jakarta, Melisa R Kusuma, explained about how to get scholarships for studying a master’s degree in England, where all costs would be covered by Chevening Scholarships, regardless the department and university chosen, as long as the score of IELTS was 6 ½ ( Six Point Five) or above, with the hope that after finishing the study, the knowledge could be utilized and/or shared with others in Indonesia. She stated that different from studying a master’s degree at universities in Indonesia, the U.S., Australia, Singapore, and others, in England, which usually took 2 years, studying the degree in England could be finished in just 1 year.

An alumna of the Chevening scholarship, Dewi Safitri stated that the requirements for studying in England was that the English ability should be good. She also explained that it was a scarce opportunity to get this scholarship for there was no limitation of age, religion, as well as race to apply, as long as those applying had never obtained any scholarship from the British government.
