Contingent of Tapak Suci of Unimus take a picture after winning the medals

Unimus | Semarang (July 8, 2018) Students of Universitas Muhamadiyah Semarang (Unimus) has achieved some high achievements in  a national-level Pencak Silat martial art competition namely USM Championship 2018 that was held by Universitas Semarang on July 6-8, 2018 in Semarang. Unimus’ Tapak Suci team successfully won 3 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 2 bronze medals in the competition that was attended by 808 participants from 168 contingents, consisting of primary and secondary schools as well as higher education institutions in 5 provinces.

Three gold medals were won by Bayu Megatama, a second semester student of Undergraduate Program in Management (male C class), Ancon Subekti, an eight semester student of Undergraduate Program in Electrical Engineering (male D class), and Musta’in Khoiril Anam, a second semester student of Undergraduate Program in Electrical Engineering (male D class). The silver medals were won by Indah Lia Listiani, a fourth semester student of Diploma IV program in Medical Laboratory Technology, Tika Amalia Sofia, a second semester student of Undergraduate Program in Management. Both competed in female single art category. Meanwhile, Fitrianingrum, a fourth semester student of Undergraduate Program in Electrical Engineering (female A class). And, the bronze medals were won by Helmi Nafista Nurjihan, a sixth semester student of Undergraduate Program in Nursing (male single art category) and Ega Natasyah, a second semester student of Undergraduate Program in management (female B Class).

The Prof. Dr. Masrukhi, M.Pd, the Rector of Unimus, expressed his gratitude towards the Tapak Suci team’s achievements. He said that Tapak Suci at Unimus had become the basis of character education which would make graduates of Unimus to become strong, confident, and mentally ready young generations. “Through Tapak Suci, they learn some values of character education such as responsibility, discipline, solidarity, faithfulness and piety,” Rector stated. Meanwhile, Drs. Samsudi Raharjo, M.T., the Vice Rector for Student Affairs and elder member of Tapak Suci Student Activity Unit stated that non-academic achievements, including in Tapak Suci, have been routine achievements that they got in various competitions. “The achievements of the students in sports prove that Unimus always supports the students achievements in any field. I hope that our achievements can make Unimus proud,” he added.
