Semarang | Desember 19th, 2016 four students of the University of Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) belonging to the Student Activity Unit of Tapak Suci (a school or perguruan of Pencak Silat in Indonesia) got bronze medals in the “ 7th Airlangga Championship Tapak Suci Open 2016”, which was held on October 2nd – 9th, 2016 in the Sports Center, Campus C, Airlangga University, Surabaya. The medal was draped by the Rector of Unimus to Fitrianingrum (3rd Place Winner of Female Adult Class A Duel Category), Rudi Syaiful N (3rd Place Winner of Male Adult Class C Duel Category), Yeni Aspriyani (3rd Place Winner of Female Adult Class D Duel Category) and Sidiq Afandi (3rd Place Winner of Male Adult Class E Duel Category).
As a school of Pencak Silat developed by Muhammadiyah, Tapak Suci is one of the organization’s resources, very important to health and self-defense. Thus, the Rector in his speech stated that “Tapak Suci will developed to make it one of some special things characterizing Unimus as well as a co-curricular of Pancasila and Civil Education and also Islamic Education, especially Muhammadiyah Education. Thus, students attending those courses are obliged to join Tapak Suci as a character building.”
