Denpasar │Unimus (27/07/2019) Unimus Choir Team consisting students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang won the international choir competition. The team has successfully bring 1 gold medal and 1 silver medal home in “Bali International Choir Festival” organised in Denpasar Bali on 23-27 July 2019. The team won gold medal for religious song category, while they obtained silver medal for folklore song category. In front of 5 international juries, they performed religious songs entitled “Allahuakbar” and “Allahumarhamna Bil Qur’an”, and folklore entitled “Lir Ilir“ and “Tak Tong Tong”.

The Choir team consisting 40 Students from various Study Programs in Unimus participated in International Choir Competition. They competed with at least 200 teams from 15 countries all around the world such as USA, Spain, Slovenia, South Africa, China, Malaysia, Thailand, Filipina and any other countries, assisted and directed by outstanding conductor, Ujianto Timotius Nugroho. “We are so touched and proud because we only had limited time to rehearse. All of the members are great and do their best to show the wonderful performance.” said Bayu Setyo Pratomo, the chairperson of Unimus Choir. “This is our first experience in participating in the international competition. We are not only gain the invaluable experience but also coaching clinic form world International choirs’ coaches, and it is so amazing. ” added Ns. Yunie Armiyati, M.Kep, Sp.KMB.

Rector of Unimus, Prof. Dr. Masrukhi expressed his appreciation for the achievement done by Unimus choir team. “We are so proud of our Unimus Choir Team that has been successfully awarded the medals to our institution and bring our institution in fame in International event. This proves that Unimus always support students’ achievement both in academic and non-academic event.” Said rector. “This achievement is also great news for Indonesia, since this competition is international event. Besides, this will be a good point for Accreditation for Higher Education (APT) to realise Unimus for the excellence.” He added.
