Malaysia – Semarang | Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) is extending the concept of internationalization in 2018. One of the attempts is by establishing new cooperation with some higher education institutions overseas. One of them is Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) in Malaysia. On the occasion, the delegation of Unimus will engage headmasters and teachers from various senior/vocational high schools in Indonesia in the MoU/LoI Signing and Technopreneurship short course program at Universiti Teknologi Petronas in Malaysia later on April 27-30, 2018.

For the record, Universiti Teknologi Petronas is one of private higher education institutions in Malaysia offering a scholarship program for senior high school graduates, especially those from Indonesia. The scholarship program is offered as one of the manifestations of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of PETRONAS. Since its establishment in 1997, Universiti Teknologi Petronas has become one of leading higher education institutions in Malaysia, most primarily in engineering and technology.

In that opportunity, M. Yusuf, Ph.D. (Director of Unimus International Relations Office) will represent Unimus; meanwhile, Universiti Teknologi Petronas will be represented by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Abd Mutalib (Acting Vice Chancellor) and Encik M Fadil Ariff (Senior Manager Marketing and Sponsorship). “As for the participating schools, we believe that the headmasters and teachers will get some benefit from the new partnership between Unimus and Universiti Teknologi Petronas, which is to go international. The schools will also be able to broaden their educational insights and have international references, so that the program “senior high school goes International” will become an added value, especially for the schools’ accreditations,” he stated.

Universiti Teknologi Petronas is a well-known in Southeast Asia, having created a lot of reliable technopreneurs. By 2018, it is the 10th best university in Southeast Asia.
