Semarang, February 11th, 2017 University of Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) in collaboration with LSM XXV Mathematics Student Association (HIMATIKA), Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UNY) has successfully held national mathematics competition for students of Junior High Schools (SMP) and Senior High Schools (SMA) Regional VI Semarang. The event was attended by the Vice Rector III (Drs. Samsudi rahardjo, M.M., M.T.), the head of Mathematics Education Study Program of Unimus (Iswahyudi Joko S, S.Si., M.Pd.), and also the participants from junior and senior high schools in Central Java Province.
In his speech, the Vice Rector III stated that the competition was not only to look for who the champions or the best ones was but also as a parameter of thinking speed. “Also, as one of exact sciences, mathematics is applied at work and even on computer or engineering applications (Electrical and Mechanical Engineering). As for the questions asked in the competition, they are what usually are asked in the National Science Olympics (OSN)
