Semarang¦(May 23, 2018) Ramadan is a month full of blessings and forgiveness. The month is a testing period of self-control and improvement to become a better person. The holy month of Ramadan should also become a medium to strengthen friendship and brotherhood spirit between the government, scholars and the surrounding people. One of the attempts is Travelling Tarawih or Tarawih Keliling, a routine agenda in every Ramadan.

Hundreds of people ‘raced’ to come early to get place at Attaqwa Muhammadiyah Jawa Tengah Mosque within Unimus’ campus to do Tarawih prayer on Tuesday (May 22, 2018). On the occasion, Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang hosted the travelling tarawih of Ramadan 1439 Hijriyya organized by the Association of Indonesian Hajj Brotherhood of the Central Java region (IPHI Jawa Tengah). The event was attended by the academicians of Unimus, administrators and members of IPHI Jawa Tengah and the people from the surrounding areas.

Prof. Dr. Masrukhi, M.Pd., the Rector of Unimus, stated that the activity was held to strenghten silaturahim or friendship as well as toghetherness.  “The travelling tarawih also becomes one of the ways to build the nation not only physically but also mentally spiritually,” the Rector added. Meanwhile, chairperson of IPHI  Jawa Tengah (H. Harsono, MBA) said that the event was aimed at spreading Islam and maintain the brotherhood between Muslims. KH Muhtar Hadi, M.Ag. On the occasion gave some religious lecture to the audience.
