Gong beating by the chairman of Muhammadiyah Central Executive Board accompanied by the Mayor of Semarang and the chairman of Muhammadiyah Provincial Executive Board of Central Java

Semarang │February 5th, 2017 University of Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) held an inauguration ceremony of Unimus’ integrated medical laboratory and ATM corner along with the groundbreaking of some new infrastructures within the area of Unimus. The event was entitled “Accelerating Institution’s Development to become the excellent Unimus”. Held in the Integrated Campus area, the event was attended by some important figures such as the Chairman of Muhammadiyah Central Executive Board (Dr. Haedar Nashir, M.Si.), the head of the Council of Higher Education, Research and Development (Prof. Dr. Lincolin M. Arsyad), Central Java Province Head of Education representing the Governor of Central Java, the Mayor of Semarang (Hendrar Prihadi, S.E., M.M.), the Chairman of Muhammadiyah Provincial Executive Board of Central Java (Drs. H. Tafsir, M.Ag.), the Chairman of Aisyiyah Provincial Executive Board of Central Java, the Coordinator of Coordination of Private Higher Education Institutions Region VI Central Java, Muhammadiyah Vocational High Schools’ representatives in Central Java Province, Rectors and Directors of higher education institutions in Central Java Province, the Rector of Unimus (Prof. Dr. Masrukhi, M.Pd.) as well as the academicians. The rundown of the event was as follows: 1) Inauguration ceremony of the integrated medical laboratory, 2) the inauguration ceremony of the ATM corner, 3) the inauguration of “Halalan Thoyiban” food court, 4) the inauguration ceremony of the Integrated Waste Management Unit, 5) the groundbreaking of the Faculty of Medicine’ building, 6) the ground breaking of Unimus’ multipurpose building, 7) The second stage construction of At-Taqwa Muhammadiyah mosque 8) Launching of ambulance and handover of waqf land.

Through a letter read by the Head of Central Java Province Education Office, the Governor of Central Java sent his appreciation to all parties who have given contributions in the construction of Unimus’ Integrated Medical Education Laboratory. He stated that, “laboratory is the composite of various scientific elements, such as lectures, researches, trainings as well as dedication to the society trough the utilizations of the services and services within. The concept of the integrated laboratory is based on the will to implement both basic and applied researches, which are innovative and useful for the entire elements of the society. It is hoped that with the laboratory, educational programs as well as training programs for academic society and health workers can be done, things which will be supportive to the upcoming research programs and developmental plans of scientific insights, primarily in health.” The governor expected that Unimus with the new laboratory and later the medical building would be able to create experts in the area of health greater than the ‘imported’ ones. “The provincial government of Central Java is always open for coordination in order to improve the quality of health of Central Java Province’s people.”

On the other side, the chairman of Muhammadiyah Central Executive Board (Dr. Haedar Nashir, M.Si.) in his speech emphasized the importance of how to be a genuine Muhammadiyah charitable institution, either in form of schools or others. To be able to become “Addiinul Hadharah” or Islam as a religion that brings with it civilization and the principle of “Unity in Diversity (Bhinneka Tunggal Ika)”.
