
Semarang | (23/12/2019) Mahasiswa dan mahasiswi Program Studi S1 Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris (PBI) Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) angkatan 2017 menggelar pentas drama bertajuk “The Last Blood Blinded by Love”. Acara berlangsung di Hall Rektorat Unimus beberapa hari lalu. Dibuka oleh Dekan FBBA Yesika Maya Octarani, SS, M.Hum dan Kaprodi S1 PBI Unimus Muhimatul Ifadah, M.Pd, pementasan diawali oleh tampilan pertunjukan menyanyi oleh mahasiswi, pembacaan puisi oleh dosen S1 PBI juga band akustik dari dosen dan alumni S1 PBI Unimus.
Muhimatul Ifadah, Head of English Education Department stated that drama is the name of subject in her study program and the output of it is drama performance. “After accomplishing this subject, students are expected to learn about the character and it is hopefully can be beneficial to them,” she explained. Drama performance was started from 07:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Attended by hundreds of audience, this drama performance delivered a message about conflict between mother and daughter which has tragic ending. This performance was expected to enhance students’ soft skill, especially in building good cooperation, problem solving and handling any big events. All students in English Department were involved in this performance as drama performance is an annual events in English Education FBBA Unimus.
The Chairperson of the performance, Nadya Khansa R explained that the purpose of drama performance is to enhance students’ soft skill in reinforcing and understanding literature as well as accomplishing drama assignment as the manifestation of stimulating students’ creativity. “The Last Blood told us about the ordinary life of tranquil village that turn to be miserable due to greed and tyranny of powerful ones. Furthermore, the moral value of this performance is greed will bring us to misery” said Nadya Khansa. All the audience enthusiastically enjoyed and stayed until the show was over.
