Semarang │Unimus (15/03/2019) Violence attitude, radicalism, and terrorism becomes one of Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) interest. Unimus wishes to fight against terrorism in campus. This effort was manifested through a collaboration with Central Java Regional Police. These two institution will hand in hand to fight against terrorism by organizing Focus Group Discussion (FGD) themed “Terorisme, ajaran Islam atau bukan?” conducted on Tuesday (15/03/2019). This FGD presented four speakers such as Vice Chairman of Provincial Executive of Muhammadiyah (Dr. Drs. Rozihan, S.H., M.Ag), lecturer of FISIP Undip and political observer (Muchamad Yuliyanto, S.Sos, M.Si), Director of Yayasan Jalin Perdamaian (Yudi Zulfahri, S.STP, M.Si), and Rector of Unimus (Prof. Dr. Masrukhi, M.Pd.). This event was participated by students, lecturers, and students organization in Unimus and was held in FK Auditorium of Unimus.

This event was opened by Head of Subdirectorate of Intelligence and Security of Polda Jawa Tengah, AKBP Guki Ginting, SIK, MM who represented the Regional Chief of Police of Central Java, Irjen Polisi Condrokirono. He expressed his appreciation to provide appropriate program for students or young generation because they are great nation’s potential who need to be actively participated in every history of the national struggle. “Their power is such main infestation to fulfill any demand on inevitable global environment. Based on survey conducted by BNPT, 39% Students in at least 15 Provinces in Indonesia are interested in radicalism. This phenomenon needs to be anticipated earlier to avoid terrorism. The result of the survey supported the assumption that young generation is the target of radicalism and campus is a potential place to disseminate this.” He explained.
AKBP Guki Ginting explained that nowadays the development of terrorism is really disturbing, because we can see that several vital object became the target of terrorism, such as security officers, place of worship, and several public places. “It indicates that terrorism is not targeted to “stranger” but more focused on the “domestic enemy” (different beliefs, government that support foreigner enemy) and do not support Islam,” he added. “Along with the emergence of transnational ideology and the increase of terror attack, actually Islam does not teach any violence or force someone. Islam is peace religion. Several suicide bombing in the name of Islam is not condoned. In addition, Al Quran contains love and good values, and terrorism is not related to any religion. Islam is rahmatan lil alamin” he ended.
Whereas, Rector of Unimus, Prof. Dr. Masrukhi expressed that nowadays information is becoming the most important thing to master everything in this world. Besides, people’s belief is affected dominantly by opinion instead of facts and data. “Any information related to religion will be considered as terrorism. Thus, the role of mass media will be very prominent.” He said. “Unimus held several rejection to any radicalism. That is why providing appropriate and correct information about terrorism will reduce the danger of terrorism.” Rector ended.

At the same time Rozihan and Yulianto thought that Indonesia’s condition is good. There were 8 Islam Figure in Committee for Preparatory Work for Independence (BPUPKI) and only one non-Moslem in Indonesia establisment such as AA Maramis. All the Moslem in the committee accepted and accomodated opinion from non-Moslem, especially in eliminating several words in the Pancasila draft.
