Semarang │UNIMUS (September 9, 2017) 2.445 new students of Universitas Muhamadiyah Semarang (Unimus) attended a general lecture given by Dr. Widyo Winarso, the head of Sub-directorate of Reasoning and Creativity at the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti). The lecture was held as a part of Unimus new student orientation (Orasi) activities in academic year 2017-2018, which was held in the east parking lot, Campus 1 of Unimus. It was aimed to build the true identity of the students, becoming those with character .

Stated by Dr. Widyo Winarso that in 2030, Indonesia would become the seventh economically developed country , so that skilled workers with character needed to be created. “Higher education institutions don’t only need to equip the graduates with academic competencies but also soft skills to that they can compete with the others in the global sphere, especially with the implementation of the Asean Economic Society (AEC). Soft skills can be mastered from various student organizations, seminars, or workshops, which can improve their insights and knowledge.” he explained. “Campus (the institution) also needs to encourage the students to have develop their entrepreneurial spirits within the campus so that young entrepreneurs can be created.” he added, stating that the Introduction of Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) aimed at introducing, preparing, and accelerating new students while dealing a transition process dealt with, in order to make the students aware of their rights as well as obligations.
