Semarang | Unimus (06/04/2019). As a country located in disaster-prone area, Indonesia is frequently considered as “Disaster Laboratory”. This terminology appeared due to Indonesian geographic, geologic, and demographic that trigger many kinds of disaster. The high number of Indonesia Disaster Risk Index encourages Indonesia government to prevent disaster. For that reason, Midwifery Students Association of Diploma III Program 2018/2019 organized Midwifery Symposium and Launching of Midwifery Education Program on Saturday (06/04/2019).
This agenda entitled “Bidan Siaga Bencana : Penanganan Kegawatdaruratan Kebidanan Pada Situasi Bencana”, was participated by hundreds of participants from alumni and active midwifery students of Unimus. This event was held in the Hall of FK Hall in Unimus, and invited dr. Tatik Murhayati, M.Kes (Health Worker of Disaster Management in Indonesia), Purwito, S.Pd (Disaster Discourse, Evacuation, and First Aid for Maternal and Neonatal), Sri Handayani, S.SiT, M.Kes (Emergency Disaster Management of Maternal and Neonatal in Midwifery Curriculum), and Dr. Rujani, M.Mid (Role of Midwife in Disaster) as the speakers.

Prof. Dr. Masrukhi, M.Pd. highly appreciated and stated that the theme of the meeting was very contextual. “Refering Indonesian geographical location, in this case, Central Java owns high potential disaster risk, we absolutely need midwife’s support to manage emergency case. I hope that this information will be beneficial for all of you,” he ended.
