Semarang | Prof. Dr. Masrukhi, M.Pd., the Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) inaugurated the use of Unimus Student Activity Center building. The event was attended by the vice rectors, deans, director of International Relations Office (IRO), and head of Bureau of Academic and Student Affairs. The event was preceded by a series events including a seminar and dialogue with representatives of the student organizations. Taking place in Unimus Park on April 30, 2018, the event was used also to discuss some internal issues in the campus dealing with the student organizations and campus facilities.

“I want Unimus to become a Garden Campus, so that the students will feel comfortable that makes every academic and non-academic activity and learning runs smoothly,” Prof. Masrukhi said. Moreover, he advised the students to make use of At-Taqwa Muhammadiyah Mosque as the center of worship, education, and Islamic trainings. At-Taqwa Mosque itself is the campus mosque of Unimus located in the integrated campus of Unimus at Jl. Kedungmundu Raya 18, Semarang, designed as the center of Islamic activities, scientific studies, and any other religious affairs for the academicians of Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang. Prof. Masrukhi added that by upholding Islam, it was one of the ways to get closed to Allah SWT. “O you who have believed, if you support Allah, He will support you and plant firmly your feet. (Surah Muhammad [47:7]). It may be that one of Allah’s helps to you (students) is to make you get easier to work with thesis, get job, and pursue career in the institution in the future,” Prof. Masrukhi added.

Prof. Dr. Masrukhi, the Rector of Unimus,  symbolically handing-over  the key of new Unimus Student Activity Unit building to the representive of Unimus student organizations.

At the end of the event, the Rector of Unimus made a direct visit to the building of the Student Activity Center. Rector of Unimus hoped that with the existence of the new building, the achievements and performances of Unimus Student Activity Units could be improved. He also advised the students to always synergize between learning activities and student organizations. In the near future, some building/hall will also be built for joint activities of student organizations and student activity units at Unimus, including performances of arts.
