Semarang│(October 25, 2017), Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) has just established new partnership with a government agency dealing with job placements and protections for Unimus’ alumni working overseas. The cooperation was manifested in the signing ceremony of a Memory of Understanding (MoU) between Unimus and the National Agency for the Protection and Placement of International Migrant Workers (BNP2TKI). The ceremony was held in sequence with a professional oath-taking ceremony for health workers-graduates of the Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences (Fikkes) at Unimus, taking place in Ponowati Ball Room, Patrajasa Hotel in Semarang. The MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. Masrukhi, M.Pd, (Rector of Unimus) and drg. Elia Rosalina Sunityo, MARS, MS (Deputy of the International Cooperation and Promotion at the National Agency for the Protection and Placement of International Migrant Workers. The rector, on the occasion, was accompanied by the Dean of Fikkes and the head of the International Relations Officer (IRO) at Unimus.

Stated by the Rector of Unimus that the absoption of Unimus’ graduates has been high, 87% out of the entire graduates of Unimus have had a job in the first year after graduation; meanwhile, the rest was in the second year. He stated that Unimus’ graduates’ competencies have been recognized in either the national or international spheres. “Not only serving the country, from the tracer study, it’ found that graduates of Unimus have spread in 19 countries, i.e. Saudi Arabia, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, the Netherlands, and the United States,” revealed the Rector. “It has motivated Unimus to provide protection, advocation, safety, and comfort to our graduates working overseas, so that they could run their professions optimally, without feeling any anxiety and worry, through establishinng partnership with BNP2TKI” Prof. Masrukhi stated. Initiated by Fikkes and the IRO, the partnership was aimed at supporting Unimus attempt to realize the credo “Unimus towards an excellent qualuty” as well as realizing one of Unimus’ vision, to have international insight. Following the signing session, the Deputi of International Cooperation and Promotion at gave materials on BNPTKI and opportunities to work abroad. She hoped the the aumni would have deeper insights dealing with work opportunities overseas.
