Governor of Central Java Province along with the Rector of Unimus

Semarang | Unimus (January 24, 2018) Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) has just held a great event today (Wednesday, January 24, 2018) in accordance with the implementation of a vision: being excellent. It was a ceremonial event to start the construction of several new buildings. Taking place in the integrated campus of Unimus in Kedungmundu, the event was attended by the Governor of Central Java Province, Mayor of Semarang City, General Secretary of Muhammadiyah Central Executive Board, Chairman and members of Muhammadiyah Provincial Executive Board of Central Java, representatives of Muhammadiyah Regional Executive Boards in Central Java, Rectors of Muhammadiyah Higher Education institutions, Directors of Muhammadiyah hospitals in Central Java, and representatives of several banks.

The event began with an official visit to Unimus’ Dental and Oral Hospital (Rumah Sakit Gigi dan Mulut/RSGM), continued with the topping off  of the Faculty of Medicine’s seven-storey building, and groundbreaking of Multipurpose Building (gedung serba guna/GSG) and nine-storey building of the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The event was closed with a public recitation.

Prof. Dr. Masrukhi (Rector of Unimus), in his welcome speech, expressed his gratitude for Unimus’ milestones, including the facilities that Unimus have had and also those under construction. “The RSGM building has been 90% and will be officially opened in February. Meanwhile, the building of the Faculty of Medicine will be finished the construction this year and will be functioned as a campus for the students of the Faculty of Medicine by September 2018” he explained. “The Multipurpose Building is planned to be used as a meeting hall and sports center with the capacity of 3500 people. Then, a nine-storey building for the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences will also be built, targeted to finish in the middle 2019” he added.

Ganjar Pranowo, the Governor of Central Java Province, in his speech looked happy in front of hundreds of audience. “I am proud and happy because I can present here with you. Muhammadiyah is very extraordinary. It can build 3 different buildings only within a day. Muhammadiyah is extraordinary as well. As a religious organization, the movement has been amazing. It could be that Muhammadiyah has the soul of a contractor,” he stated jokingly. “With the construction of Muhammadiyah’s campus in Semarang, I hope excellences can be presented and it can help the government. Nowadays, best campuses don’t only belong to the government but also private organizations,” he added.

“Unimus is very serious in educational sector. Not only dealing with science, Unimus also builds physical things,” the Governor revealed. “Unimus’ advancement is expected to become a part of solutions for socio-cultural problems,” he closed the greeting.
