Semarang | Unimus (January 13, 2018) Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) held a scientific discussion entitled “International Publication Reinforcement” with Prof. Dr. Edy Suandi Hamid, M.Ed (Vice Chairman of Council of Higher Education and Research and Development of Muhammadiyah’s Central Executive Board) as the guest speaker. The event was held in the meeting room, in the Integrated Medical Laboratory building of Unimus, attended by Unimus’ senior leaders, deans, and study program heads. Being the moderator was Dr. Ns. Sri Rejeki, M.Kep, Sp.Mat., the Vice Rector II of Unimus.

The event was held at Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang with an aim to improve the human resources’ qualities as well as services to the students. “The scientific discussion on international publication reinforcement is held to boost international publications by lecturers in order to make a reality Unimus’s vision, which is to become an excellent, distinctive, and having international insight,” Dr. Sri Rejeki added.

Stated by Prof. Edy Suandi that international publication could become one of ways for Unimus to become a World Class University. “Ability to communicate in the international in academic sphere through scientific works will lead to becoming a world class university. International publication on international level is very important because it: enhance educators’ skills, imrove public’ confidence in Indonesian scientists’ competencies, as well as give impact on competitiveness improvement,” Prof. Edy Suandi explained. “Keys to succeeding international publication are will, spirit, and discipline,” he revealed. The former rector of Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) emphasized on basic ethics in writing, such as conveying truth, realizing value, being responsible and showing moralty, being objective with no prejudice, avoiding plagiarism, and not submitting the same article to any other publisher”. On the occasion, he also shared some strategies and tips to become a professor.
