Thousands of jama’ah fulfill the front yard of Unimus Rectorate Building to listen to the Eid-ul Adha preaching.

In the Khotbah [praching] by Prof. Masrukhi, is was said that Hajj and Qurban Eid was an important momentum for Muslims to get closer to Allah SWT. “Essence of qurban taught by Prophet Ibrahim is to show obedience, sincerity, and devotion to God by cutting [reducing] one’s property to be shared with others. Many things we like and want often are against the shari’a and teachings of Allah. Thus, as Muslims, we have to sacrifice those and choose the others that fit with Allah’s teachings. Qurban also teaches us about social awareness on the society and people around us, meaning Eid-ul Adha can sharpen our awareness of those in need of our assistances” explained Prof. Masrukhi. “Propet Ibrahim has given examples to us in form of patience and sincerity in doing Allah’s shari’a (order to cut his son). They are still relevant now given the condition of our nation and state. As a national reflection, Prophet Ibrahim’s exemplary is relevant to religious culture that bases all people’s activities” Prof. Masrukhi emphasized.

Prof. Dr. Masrukhi, the Rector of Unimus, gave an Eid-ul Adha preaching before thousands of Jama’ah.

Prof. Masrukhi also stated about the important learning from wearing ihram clothing during Hajj. It was said that ihram clothing was white clothes with no stitches, worn by anyone regardless the profession during hajj. He said that ihram clothing symbolized humanity, everyone before Allah was same, distinguished only by the devotion. “Symbolized devotion, ihram clothing should be ‘worn’ by all of us anytime, meaning we should put in the first place humanity and honesty, avoid lying and doing tricks everyday. We should ‘wear ihram every day by being low profile, truthful, and honest, to bring prosperity and give benefits to the society. When ihram is ‘worn’ every day, I am sure we can have a good, comfortable society and a safe, peaceful nation. Islam is rahmatan lil alamin (blessing for the whole world). By becoming ‘white and clean’, we will be quality human beings that are always close to Allah” tambah Prof. Masrukhi added.
