
Semarang │(October 15, 2017) 1.021 prospective graduates at Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) have been attending Post-Study Baitul Arqam (Baitul Arqom Purna Studi/BAPS) held in the hall of the Nursing Reseach Center building of Unimus. The event is organized by Unimus’ Institute of Islamic and Muhammadiyah Studies (Lembaga Studi Islam dan Kemuhammadiyahan /LSIK) will be held for five days from October 15 (today) to 20, 2017. Drs. Rohmat Suprapto, M.Si., the head of LSIK of Unimus Drs. Rohmat Suprapto, M.Si., explained that the BAPS was a manifestation of Islamic values, taken from Quran and Hadits and believed able to develop Muhammadiyah from time to time. “A more important aspect that any other efforts to answer the above question is how to create a cadre, which is able to equip and stimulate the prospective graduates so that they will become more certain, understand, and then continue the missions of Muhammadiyah, as an Islamic movement that “enjoins the good and forbids the evil (amar ma’ruf nahi mungkar),” he explained.

The official opening was attended by the Rector of Unimus (Prof. Dr. Masrukhi, M.Pd.) and the Vice Rectors, the members of LSIK, the head of the Institute of Educational Development and Quality Assurance (LP3M) at Unimus, and several senior leaders of Muhammadiyah Provincial Executive Board of Central Java (PWM Jateng), such as Drs. M. Tafsir, M.Ag (chairman of PWM Jateng), Prof. Yusuf Suyono, Dr. Rosihan, S.H., Dr. Ummul Baroroh, M.A. (chairman of PWA Jateng), Siti Tarqiyah, M.Ag. (a medical practitioner, the President Director of Indonesia Emas Jateng) and Dr. Joko Setyo Hartono, S.H., M.K.N. (a legal practitioner and notary public). The event was officially opened by Dr. Samsudi Raharjo, M.M., M.T., the Vice Rector III (for Student Affairs). On the occasion, he stated to the prospective graduates that they had to pay attention to soft skills dealing with interpersonal and communication matters since they were very important for them, especially to get jobs that they have expected to get.

Chairman of Unimus’ LSIK asserted that the BAPS was obligatory for all o the prospective graduates. “BAPS will equip the prospective graduates with knowledge on Islamic life empowerment and also roles and responsibilities of alumni for the development of Unimus and the nation,” he added. “BAPS will also equip the prospective [male & female] students with soft skills of professional and Islamic attitudes at work, so that they would be ready to be faced with changes and dynamics in the society. They will be directed to have the attitudes in order to get a job as well as satisfy the users when they are already at work. Time by time, the waiting period of Unimus’ alumni has been less than 4 months, which is quite high; in other words, the can quickly get a job after graduating from Unimus,” he added.
