Speaker, Moderator, and Head of English Literature Study Program in the opening ceremony

Semarang │Unimus (19/03/2019) Being a translator or editor can be alternative profession for English Literature graduates. There are so many market of translators and editors such as textbook translator or editor, fiction or nonfiction book translator or editor as well. Answering this challenge, English Literature Study Program organised Guest Lecture entitled “Penerjemah Novel dan Editor”. This agenda invited great speakers, Andityas Prabantoro, and participated by lecturers and students of English literature in NRC Hall of Unimus on Tuesday (19/03/2019). The agenda was attended by Dean of FBBA Unimus, Yesika Maya Octarani, S.S., M.Hum. and officially opened by the Head of Department, Heri Dwi Santoso, M.Hum.

In his speech, the Head of English Literature Study Program stated that this event was held to improve students’ competences in translating text. “Students may learn about so many materials delivered by the speakers. Besides, students will understand that about theory and how to translate literature works without distorting or change the meaning of the text.” “Students are also expected to get new knowledge to translate novel and any literature works by stimulating them to translate the text well and how to be reliable editor,” he added. “By joining this activity, hopeful students will get new perspective about translating method from another expert, not only from their lecturers in the classroom.” he ended.

For at least two hours, students and lecturers of English Literature Undergraduate Program were asked to learn more about being good and professional translators and editors for literature works. Andtyas, a Chief Editor for well-known publisher in Indonesia shared his tips and experience of being reliable translator and editor of literature works. Finally the event was ended by discussion and Question & Answer session.
