Semarang | Unimus (January 22, 2018) Prof. Dr. Masrukhi, M.Pd., the Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus), accompanied by Dr. Sri Darmawati, M.Si. (Vice Rector I of Unimus), Dr. Sri Rejeki, M.Kep, SpMat (Vice Rector II of Unimus), and Moh. Yusuf Ph.D., (Director of the International Relations Office at Unimus) released 12 Nursing Program students to attend an international short course program in Thailand and Singapore. The ceremony was held after the Monday Morning Prayer (1/22) in Unimus’ park. There were also the headmaster of Muhammadiyah 1 Vocational High School and that of Muhammadiyah 1 Senior High School and representative of the Council of Higher Education and Research and Development of Muhammadiyah Provincial Executive Board of Central Java.
The Director of the International Relations Office, accompanied by Dr. Budi Santosa, M.Si.Med, the Dean of the Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences, stated that 12 students of Diploma III and Undergraduate Programs in Nursing would take a short course program at Prince Songkhla University (PSU) in Thailand and Ngee Ann Polytechnic of Singapore in Singapore.
He told that they would take it from January 28 – February 4, 2018. Meanwhile, the Rector of Unimus said that Unimus’ students were always encouraged and facilitated to participate in any student mobility program at various institutions overseas. It was to open their insights, make them ready to compete with others in the global era, as well as be able to cooperate with international workers from various countries. In that event also, delegations of school headmasters were officially released to attend an international activity in Thailand, accompanied by Unimus. The IRO director along with 35 delegations, consisting of headmasters of Muhammadiyah Senior High Schools/Vocational High Schools in Central Java, administrators of Muhammadiyah Provincial Executive Board of Central Java, and administrators of Muhammadiyah Regional Executive Boards in Central Java have been facilitated to take a short course program at Hatyai University and Vocational School of Hatyai in Thailand from January 28 to February 2, 2018.
“Schools need to take themselves into the international sphere for it is important to have an international network, besides becoming a leading point in a school accredication. Not only that, Unimus also facilitate teachers from Sumatra and Kalimantan who have expressed their willingness to take short courses in some Asean countries as well as Taiwan and Korea,” the Rektor said. Meanwhile, the headmaster of Muhammadiyah 1 Senior High School of Semarang on the occasion revealed her happiness and gratitude for having been helped by Unimus to extend the school’s network overseas. “Internationalization and cooperation with DSU in Korea that have been initiated by Unimus has help succeed the accreditation,” she added.
