Semarang │May 19, 2017 Study Program of DIII in Midwifery, Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences (FIKKES) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) held the Online Journal Workshop in the hall of NRC Unimus. The event was held three days from May 16 to May 18, 2017. The event was opened by the Vice Rector I of Unimus (Dr. Sri Darmawati., M.Si.). In her greeting, she stated that the workshop was funded by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education through the National E-Journal Management Grant received by Jurnal Kebidanan Unimus. “I hope that the event is not just ceremonial but can give benefits to the journal manager to improve the quality of the journal, as a national electronic journal” she stated. Meanwhile, chairperson of the committee, Fitriani Nur Damayanti, S.ST., M.H.Kes. stated that the workshop aimed at optimizing the utilization of an OJS-based website owned by the journal as well as improve qualities of the journal and paper writing so that the participants would be able to apply the standardized and technology-based editing techniques.
As many as 40 people attended the event as participants, consisting those from Unimus’ journal managerial teams, 14 study programs at Unimus and some from other medical education institution who have ever submitted their articles to Jurnal Kebidanan Unimus. The workshop was divided into 3 sessions (3 days). The first-day workshop was Journal Website Utilization Workshop through Training on Online Submission and Review. The guest speaker of this session was Eko Didik Widianto, S.T., M.T., moderated by the head of the Institute of Research and Community Service (LPPM) at Unimus (Dr. Dini Cahyandari, S.T., M.T.). The second-day event agenda was the Workshop on Journal Article Writing, with Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Heru Susanto, S.T., M.M., M.T. as the guest speaker and Fitriani Nur Damayanti, S.ST., M.H.Kes. as the moderator. Meanwhile, the third-day event was Editorial Board Workshop attended by the editorial board members of Jurnal Kebidanan Unimus.
“We hope that the workshop will produce long-term outputs, such as articles indexed on Google Scholar, Portal Garuda, ISJD, DOAJ and Moraref, improvement of the self-evaluation score of the journal, and increasing number of visitors on the journal’s website” the committee chairperson revealed. It’s hoped also that it can prepare the journal prior to the accreditation.
