Semarang │Unimus (27/02/2019) After undergoing socialization, administrative selection, and selection and evaluation, selection and election of Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) for 2019-2023 period, the procedure of rector election program was started by organizing Rector Candidates’ vision and mission before election by Academic Senate on Monday (22/4). The first program conducted was Rector Candidates’ vision and mission presentation which was held in FK Hall attended by 300 persons, such as lecturer, administration staff, representative of Unimus Students’ Organization, Daily Executive Board of Unimus (BPH), and Central Java Provincial Board of Muhammadiyah.
Chairperson of Rector Election Committe and Head of Unimus LSIK at the same time, Drs. Rohmat Suprapto, M.Si. stated that term of office of Unimus Rector for 2015-2019 will be ended on 23 July 2019. “In accordance to the with regulation issued by Muhammadiyah Central Executive, the rector election for 2019-2023 should be organized immidiately. The process of rector election should consider several prominent indicators, such as clear regulation, active involvement of academician society, and the maintenance of togetherness during the election.” he explained. “We do hope that whoever elected will bring development and dignity to Unimus. In addition, he/she will be able to guide Unimus accreditation institution to get A. Besides, she/he must be able to be a motor to Islamic dakwah movement,” he ended. Whereas, the Chair of Central Java Provincial Executive of Muhammadiyah, Drs. M. Tafsir, M.Ag., in his welcoming speech said that whoever elected as Rector of Unimus will work hard and smart. “The elected Rector should be able to strengthen ukhuwah for realizing excellent university. She/he might not forget the component of jama’ah, jam’iah (organization) and House for Charity of Muhammadiyah (AUM). Thus, he/she should be able to collaborate with those components,” Tafsir said.
There are two candidates for Rector Election Program for 2019-2012. Prof. Dr. Masrukhi, M.Pd got number 1 and Dr. Ns. Sri Rejeki, M.Kep., Sp.Mat. got number 2 on election. Prof. Masrukhi presented his vision entitled “Bersama Mewujudkan Unimus Bermartabat di Tahun 2019”, while Dr. Sri Rejeki presented her vision entitled “Bersama Mewujudkan Unimus yang Maju, Mencerahkan, Berkeadilan dan Menyejahterakan”.
Upon presenting their vision and mission, 35 University Academic Senate elect one candidate to be proposed to Muhammadiyah Central Board (PP Muhammadiyah). “PP Muhammadiyah will spend at least 2 months for assessing and evaluating the rector candidate to stipulate 2019-2023 Unimus Rector,” ended Rohmat Suprapto.
