Guru sekolah, dosen dan mahasiswa dalam kegiatan “Pendidikan sarapan sehat”Semarang │ May 6, 2017 Diploma III and Undergraduate Degree in Nutrition Science, Faculty of Nursing and Health Science, was appointed to organize an event named “Healthy Breakfast Education (Pendidikan Sarapan Sehat)”, as a contribution to succeeding the event “Healthy Breakfast Education” for 23,006 schoolchildren, 974 teachers, 1596 parents/carers, 921 college students as well as lecturer in 11 cities in Java island. The event was held to celebrate National Breakfast Week (PESAN) 2017 established by Indonesian Food and Nutrition Experts (PERGIZI PANGAN) in collaboration with some higher education institutions.

The event aimed at: 1) Educating primary schoolchildren about healthy breakfast 2) Socializing the importance of consuming healthy breakfast and safe snacks, 3) Socializing the importance of healthy breakfast through having breakfast together, 4) Promoting a comic book entitled “Ayo Sarapan Sehat! (Let’s Have Healthy Breakfast)” in order to build people’s awareness on the benefits of having breakfast, 5) Socializing the significance of washing hands with soap before eating, as a manifestation of clean and healthy life. The event was conducted in 11 cities in Indonesia, including Purwodadi in Grobogan regency. The selected partner for the region was the Undergraduate Degree in Nutrition Science of Unimus.

Pelatihan sarapan sehat bagi fasilitator guru SD The event involving 6 lecturers and 72 students of Diploma III and Undergraduate Degree in Nutrition Science consisted of: 1) Facilitator training on healthy breakfast for college students and lecturers in the campus on May 4, 2017, 2) facilitator training on healthy breakfast by students and lecturers for teachers of the chosen elementary schools on Friday, May 5, 2017 and 3) Healthy Breakfast Education for third to sixth grade students of the chosen elementary schools and the parents/carers of first and second grade students in selected schools on Saturday, May 6, 2017.

The event was held also to implement the Minister of Health’s Decree No. 41/2014 about Guidelines of Balanced Nutrition, stating that one of ten Messages of Balanced Nutrition (Pesan Gizi Seimbang) is to “make breakfast a habit”. The big title of the event was “Healthy Breakfast and Save Snacks to Create a Highly Achieving and Healthy Generation”. In the event, lecturers and students share knowledge with schoolchildren, teachers and carers at six elementary schools in Purwodadi. The program contained appeal on having breakfast for schoolchildren, in order to make them strong, healthy, smart and cheerful or always having great spirit to study, preventing from consuming unsafe snacks.

the three-day event finally went well. The lecturers and students were all enthusiastic during the event. People in general felt happy for the presence of lecturers and college students who came in person to give the education and training. The event was also one of the implementations of Three Obligations (Tri Darma) of Higher Education by Unimus, through community service that involved the lecturers and students.
